Calling All Children!
It’s Children’s Art Calendar time again! All children, aged 5 to 12, are encouraged to submit a picture that reminds them of a book they have enjoyed. The artwork can be done on 8 1/2 by 11 or 9 by 12 paper and it can be done in crayon, colored pencils, paints, or cut and paste.
Every child is a winner! Every entry will receive a certificate for free books at the Serendipity Book Store, the “little store on the second floor” of the Eureka Library. The twelve “month” pictures, cover picture, and twelve Honorable Mentions will be framed in our new picture frames and hung in the Hagopian Art Gallery upstairs in the Eureka Library for the months of November and December. Those children will also have their photos taken with their artwork and will be featured in a Friends of the Redwood Libraries Newsletter. In addition, every entry can be found somewhere in the calendar!
In order to submit the artwork, first fill out the Application. These can be found in the Serendipity Book Store, at the Circulation Desk in the Eureka Library, in the Children’s Room at the Eureka Library, or you can download the form below. Then take the artwork with the application to the Eureka Library. As an alternative, the artwork and application can be photographed and sent (jpeg) to marilyn.tucker.mt@gmail.com.
We’ll be looking forward to receiving wonderful artwork by August 2, 2025. We have been putting together these calendars since 2011. If you would like to help out as a sponsor, please send your donation to Humboldt County Library, Box 188, Eureka, CA 95502 and label it Attn: Children’s Art Calendar.
