All Aboard! Trains, Planes, and Ships

trains-planes-shipsSerendipity received a generous donation of books of train lore a few weeks back, along with a number of airplane and ship books. Vintage and new, many coffee table size, and some back issue magazines. Just the thing for loco motion lovers. The train magazines were quickly snapped up, but many choice books are still on the shelves. In the Serendipity book store.

The Music Goes ‘Round and ‘Round

sheetmusic11-magSerendipity Book Store sold lots of vintage sheet music these last few weeks, thank you Redwood music lovers! Recently we received a music magazine donation. The magazines include the sheet music of popular songs, of course, as well as tips on playing blues, jazz, rock and pop. All magazines are just 25 cents each, although we’re always ready to make a deal for quantity.

Poets and Writers and Readers, Oh My

poetsandwriters-magFor those of you who have resolved to get published this year, or to just get better, get in on the ground floor with our Poets & Writers magazines, great tips and advice for just a quarter (25 cents each). At the Serendipity Book Store.

 

 

 

 

 

Nov 22 Raffle Items Part 1

raffleitems_smallIt’s a fabulous line up. The headliner is a handsome Mink Teddy, crafted from a vintage stole. Then there is the big basket of dog goodies from the Farm Store.

Then there is a pool of handsome created by or reconditioned by local Humboldt artists. There is a redwood bowl filled with wooden fruit; a small burl on a stand;  a small wooden vase; a reconditioned windmill music box; a small kokopelli figure; a redwood cheese cutting board with resident redwood mouse; an ironwood duck; a miniature redwood desk and chairs; a redwood burl candle holder; a lizard on a rock; an african acacia mother and child; a parrot of unknown wood; a redwood snoopy and owl figure; a redwood relief; an india wood praying figure; and a pair of oval ironwood picture frames.

Nov 22 – About the Raffle

Nov 22 FRL Holiday Raffle & SaleThe first # selected wins the Mink Bear. The second # selected wins the Big Dog Basket. All other numbers drawn may choose from a pool of over 20 raffle items, first come, first choice. So although you do not have to be present at the Nov 22 3pm drawing to win, the sooner you stop by the Serendipity Book Store, the wider your choice.

The special Serendipity 15th Anniversary Holiday Sale will include: children’s picture books, chapter books and stories and music on cassette tapes; holiday themed craft books, cookbooks, fiction and nonfiction as well; a huge amount of CD’s and records for sale, mainly classical and bluegrass. Books are 50 cents hardback, 25 cents paperback. CDs are $1, LPs and Cassettes are 25 cents each.

2015 Children’s Art Calendar is Here!

It may be bought at the front desk of the Humboldt County Public Library in Eureka, and in the Serendipity Book Store on the second floor of the Humboldt County Public Library. And coming soon to a Humboldt Library near you. Just $5 a Calendar.

 

Nov 22 Serendipity Celebration Special Sale and Raffle

Nov 22 FRL Holiday Raffle & SaleThis sale is a part of the 15th Anniversary celebration of the Serendipity Book Store (see Stephanie’s article on page 2 of the News Letter), and will include a raffle of some wonderful items. Susie Freese has created an adorable teddy bear using a donated fur coat. Other donated items include a basket of dog “goodies” from the Farm Store.

More items are coming in for the raffle. There will be a cat basket as well as the dog basket. There is a hand crafted pine coat rack shelf and knick-knack shelf. Anyone interested in donating a quality item for the raffle, please contact frlnews@eurekafrl.org.

The drawing will be held at the end of the sale on November 22. It is not necessary to be present to win, but all prizes after the second prize are ‘first come, first choice’.
